The brief
“Why ‘Eclecticism’? I believe that no one fully dedicated to the development of their intellect and professional and ‘para-professional’ skills can demonstrate a perfect style: texts inevitably contain repetitions, contradictions of one’s own statements, and changes dictated by life experiences—this is eclecticism.” — L. Vaitys
The book features published and unpublished articles, statements, and comments about colleagues by the renowned architect Leonardas Vaitys. It also includes key works, some of which have been realized while others remain only in sketches and models.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the creation of this book, from the idea that originated in “Patriarch’s Valley” to the printing press. Among them are: Vilma Pabrinkytė, who compiled my poorly handwritten pages; Egidija Lekavičienė, the language editor who tolerated my lengthy sentences; the Lithuanian National Museum, which allowed me to use their archives; Donaldas Andziulis and his entire “Ex Arte” team, who endured long communications with me; and Greta Grabytė, a young VGTU master’s student, who helped correct my computer illiteracy and select illustrations.
I also sincerely thank art historian Vaidai Almonaitytei-Navickiene, the only one who has read this book so far, for her valuable advice in shaping its structure.
Thank you all.
